AbstractTechnology has been both the cause and the solution of many environmental problems. Motor vehicle emissions contribute to climate change. Apps are supposed to help us minimizing our CO2 footprint. This course examines which politics, social relations, economic interests, environmental changes, and forms of engineering have conditioned which types and consequences of technology in modern history.
Learning objectiveStudents will discuss primary and secondary sources about the relationship between technology and the environment since the nineteenth century. They will learn to analyze argumentative strategies, divergent perspectives, and consequences and to write precisely and trenchantly about technology and the environment in society.
