AbstractKey terms: Atoms and bits, transparency and manipulation
Learning objectiveIndependently of the building industry, Module 1 initially provides information about the characteristics of digitalisation through its principles and rules, enabling the participants to independently recognise the short-term and long-term changes that are resulting from it.
ContentThe principles involved in digitalised business and society are illustrated using experience from fields that have already been changed, such as the hotel industry and the music industry. The switch from materially based collaboration to data-supported networking conflicts with established methods, tools and structures. Weaknesses in the relevant legislation may even become apparent — such as the uncertainties involved in liability issues for self-driving robots. Parallels with the building industry are developed on this basis in order to identify effects involving transparency, the acceleration of business processes and questions of property and liability.
