| Kurzbeschreibung | This lecture explores managerial/organizational aspects in the energy sector during the transition towards a low-carbon energy system. Fundamental changes such as more decentralized energy production or new technologies challenge the existing business models of organizations such as utilities or technology provides. Hence, a particular focus of this lecture is on innovations. |
| Lernziel | This lecture aims to equip students with the basics of managerial/organizational aspects in the energy sector, with a particular focus on energy innovations. |
| Inhalt | This lecture explores managerial/organizational aspects in the energy sector during the transition towards a low-carbon energy system. Fundamental changes such as more decentralized energy production or new technologies challenge the existing business models of organizations such as utilities or technology provides. Hence, a particular focus of this lecture is on innovations. During this lecture, students will learn about aspects such as the financial valuation of investment decisions, technology innovation management, and strategic decision making in the energy sector – guided by questions like “how does the energy industry change and why” or “how would you make the decision if you were the head of a utility”. Besides traditional teaching, this lecture consists of interactive case studies and games. |
