AbstractDeepen the knowledge on selected topics of underground construction as well as learning working out conceptual solutions of complex problems.
Learning objectiveLecture: Deepen the knowledge on selected topics of underground construction.
Exercises: Conceptual solutions of complex problems.
ContentCaverns: Geometry, construction methods, support.
Shafts: Construction methods, support.
Urban tunnelling: Boundary conditions, system choice, alignement, design.
Field measurements: Principles, monitoring layout, applications, interpretation.
Cut and cover tunnels: Modelling, design.
Exercising conceptual solution of complex tunnelling problems based upon discussion of current tunnel cases with particularly demanding problems in small groups.

Additional information on mode of examinationDie Bearbeitung einer Fallstudie (Gruppenarbeit) stellt ein Obligatorisches Leistungselement dieses Kurses dar. Das Obligatorische Leistungselement muss nicht für sich allein bestanden werden; es wird mit einer Note bewertet (Präsentation und Technischer Bericht), die anteilmässig zur Gesamtnote der Lerneinheit zählt. Wurde das Leistungselement bereits in einem früheren Semester erfolgreich abgelegt, muss es nicht wiederholt werden.
Die Gesamtnote der Lehrveranstaltung setzt sich folgendermassen zusammen: Fallstudie (1/2), mündliche Sessionsprüfung (1/2).
