Abstract | After introducing acoustic objects of the physical world the detection, analysis and perception of these signals in the peripheral and central auditory system is described. Emphasis is put on understanding the processing mechanisms in the human auditory system in the aim of restoring impaired auditory function with medical technology. | ||||
Learning objective | The understanding of the human hearing organ, the processing of complex acoustic signals and hearing rehabilitation possibilities with medical devices (hearing aid and implantable hearing aid systems). | ||||
