AbstractAtomic spectra: fine structure and hyperfine structure of simple atoms, spectra of multi-electron atoms; Time dependent quantum mechanics and perturbation theory: transition probabilities, rate equations, absorption, spontaneous and stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation; Lasers; Symmetry properties and selection rules; Molecular spectroscopy: vibrational and rotational spectra
ObjectiveThe lecture is devoted to atomic and molecular spectroscopy whereby both theoretical and experimental aspects are treated. The interaction between electromagnetic radiation and matter is discussed in the context of molecular spectra and molecular structure and dynamics.
