AbstractThis course is geared towards first and second-year doctoral candidates of MTEC. It is held as in a workshop style. Students attending this seminar will benefit from interdisciplinary discussions and insights into current and future work in business and economics research.
Learning objectiveThe purpose of this course is to
- introduce doctoral candidates to the world of economics, management and systems research at MTEC
- make doctoral candidates aware of silo-thinking in the specific sub-disciplines and encourage them to go beyond those silos
- discuss current issues with regard to substantive, methodological and theoretical domains of research in the respective fields

AbstractVertiefung und Anwendung von betriebswirtschaftlichem Konzepten, Analyse- und Planungsinstrumenten sowie Aspekten des Risikomanagements in der Landwirtschaft.
Learning objectiveStudenten sollen am Ende der Vorlesung i) verschiedene Methoden und Instrumente auf Fragestellungen der Produktionsplanung, Investition und Finanzierung sowie der Risikoanalyse und des Risikomanagements anwenden können, ii) über verschieden Werkzeuge zur unternehmerischen Entscheidungsunterstützung verfügen, iii) die Umsetzung mit relevanter Software (z.B. R) beherrschen.
ContentDie Vorlesung geht auf folgende Inhalte, mit spezifischen Anwendungen im Agrar- und Ernährungssektors ein:

AbstractIn this course students will deepen and apply their knowledge in a particular field of agricultural economic research. Furthermore, the application of methodological skills on real world examples is enabled in this course. Examination is based on a term paper and a presentation.
Learning objectiveThis lecture enables students to further depend and apply theoretical knowledge in agricultural economics, methodological tool such as econometric or optimization models to current research topics. The course enables students to improve their writing and presentation skills.
ContentStudents will select among offered topics that are connected to current research projects of the Agricultural Economics and Policy Group. A list of topics will be presented in the first week of the semester.
