|Kurzbeschreibung||It is the objective of this lecture to introduce the basic concepts used |
in Medical Image Analysis. In particular the lecture focuses on shape
representation schemes, segmentation techniques, machine learning based predictive models and various image registration methods commonly used in Medical Image Analysis applications.
|Lernziel||This lecture aims to give an overview of the basic concepts of Medical Image Analysis and its application areas.|

Basic concepts of mathematical analysis and linear algebra.
Basic knowledge of computer vision and machine learning would be helpful.

|Kurzbeschreibung||Two-week summer school organized by EXCITE (Center for EXperimental & Clinical Imaging TEchnologies Zurich) on biological and medical imaging. The course covers X-ray imaging, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear imaging, ultrasound imaging, optoacoustic imaging, infrared and optical microscopy, electron microscopy, image processing and analysis.|
|Lernziel||Students understand basic concepts and implementations of biological and medical imaging. Based on relative advantages and limitations of each method they can identify preferred procedures and applications. Common foundations and conceptual differences of the methods can be explained.|
|Inhalt||Two-week summer school on biological and medical imaging. The course covers concepts and implementations of X-ray imaging, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear imaging, ultrasound imaging, optoacoustic imaging, infrared and optical microscopy and electron microscopy. Multi-modal and multi-scale imaging and supporting technologies such as image analysis and modeling are discussed. Dedicated modules for physical and life scientists taking into account the various backgrounds are offered.|

|Kurzbeschreibung||This is a seminar lecture focusing on recent research topics in biomedical image computing, machine learning techniques related to interpreting biomedical images and medical data in general. Every week a different topic will be presented and discussed.|
|Lernziel||The goal of this lecture is to provide a glimpse of the current research landscape to graduate students who are interested in working on biomedical image computing and related areas. Different topics will be covered by different speakers every week to provide a broad perspective and highlight current challenges. Every week students will be asked to read a paper, prepare discussion questions and participate in the discussion. Upon completion of this course, students will have a broad overview of the recent developments in biomedical image computing and ability to critically discuss a scientific article.|

|Kurzbeschreibung||This course provides an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the advanced topics of robotics and mechatronics research. The seminar consists of a literature study, including a report and a presentation.|
|Lernziel||The students are familiar with the challenges of the fascinating and interdisciplinary field of Robotics and Mechatronics. They are introduced in the basics of independent non-experimental scientific research and are able to summarize and to present the results efficiently.|
|Inhalt||This 4 ECTS course requires each student to discuss a study plan with the lecturer and select minimum 10 relevant scientific publications to read through. At the end of semester, the results should be presented in an oral presentation and summarized in a report.|
